Workshop on 5/23/2024: Evaluating the Efficacy of Cybersecurity Interventions
On May 23, 2024, the Ostrom Workshop Cyber Public Health Working Group continued its workshop series with an exciting session on “Evaluating the Efficacy of Cybersecurity Interventions” which was led by our esteemed speaker, Dr. Daniel Woods.
If you missed it, you can watch the recording here!
Cybersecurity policy should guide firms towards implementing the most effective security controls and procedures. However, there is no authority that collects evidence and ranks cybersecurity controls by efficacy. To address this gap, we conduct a meta-review of studies that empirically evaluate the efficacy of cybersecurity interventions. This talk presents the results of the meta-review, and then transitions into a more workshop-style discussion of the future of evidence-based cybersecurity.
Daniel Woods is a Lecturer in Cyber Security at the University of Edinburgh, and a Senior Security Researcher at Coalition. His research interests are in the economics of security and privacy focusing on cyber insurance, risk quantification and incident response. He received his PhD titled “The Economics of Cyber Risk Transfer” in 2019 from the University of Oxford.
