Workshop on 5/25/2023: The Internet Infrastructure Health Metrics Framework

The Ostrom Workshop Cyber Public Health Working Group was pleased to host the following workshop on May 25, 2023. You can view the recording below.

Topic: The Internet Infrastructure Health Metrics Framework

Featured Speaker: Adam Shostack

Video Recording: https://youtu.be/dybkNYRcbb4

Description:

The Internet Infrastructure Health Metrics Framework (IIHMF) is a set of models and metrics, developed by the CyberGreen Institute, for measuring the “public health” of internet infrastructure. It allows nations to measure their overall risk, to understand how it changes over time, and to take steps to mitigate that risk for their citizens. In particular, the IIHMF work has focused on measuring security related to critical components of internet infrastructure, currently including routing, DNS, and open services. In the next phase of work, we aim to extend those to email, certificates, and security protocols. Among the questions we continue to ask ourselves: Are these the right components? Are we measuring them well? What other aspects of internet infrastructure could we measure? Should we go deeper or more broadly? How can our work best complement existing work?

To view some of our research related to the IIHMF, please visit https://cybergreen.net/research/#iihmf
